| Targeting the chemistry that matters
Multiple perspectives in one overview
| CrossFire Beilstein is part of the CrossFire Database Suite. The suite represents a unique, deeply indexed source of experimental data in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry. |
| CrossFire Beilstein covers core organic chemistry since 1771 and patent publications from 1869 - 1980. CrossFire Beilstein provides all the organic chemistry information that chemists need to identify synthetic routes. Discovery scientists find physical substance data and can explore the pharmacological, ecological and toxicological outcomes. Specific bioassay results, pharmacodynamic parameters, logPs, toxicity values and other important types of data are all directly accessible. |
| CrossFire Beilstein provides information on a compound or reaction collated from different publications into a single record. In these records, the experimental data (facts) do not only provide an overview of the properties of a compound or different conditions for a reaction, they can also be exported to review, compare or share data and tables with colleagues. |
| CrossFire Beilstein is the essential first step in chemistry, making chemists' research faster and cheaper. It is a unique resource for synthetic scientists: everything from a huge pook of physical property data to workflow tools. |
CrossFire Beilstein offers scientists comprehensive detail, fast search speeds and high-quality data indexed from over 175 journals (PDF: 226 KB).

| Many ways to access CrossFire Beilstein |
| The substances and reactions in CrossFire Beilstein can be searched in multiple ways; the most popular way is by drawing chemical structures or reactions (using exact structure or substructure searches) to access the data. |
| The experimental data enables you to fine-tune your questions, ensuring a focus on the information that is relevant for your research topic. Moreover, the data enables searches without chemical structures, using chemical names for example, and you can also identify a substance by the physical properties measured in the laboratory. |
| The Beilstein database is updated quarterly and can be hosted for use at your organization's site or accessed via the following services: |
CrossFire Direct:
Customers can access the Beilstein database via the Internet using CrossFire Direct. The application interface to access the Beilstein database in this way is CrossFire Commander. (Version 7.1, available for Microsoft® Windows.) |
DiscoveryGate:
CrossFire Beilstein is also available from DiscoveryGate, a comprehensive online cheminformatics discovery online service offered by Symyx . Customers may choose to access the Beilstein data through DiscoveryGate via either the Database Browser application, or CrossFire Commander interface, depending upon their service agreement. |
Third party online services:
In addition, Elsevier Information Systems GmbH offers customer access to CrossFire Beilstein from the following third-party online services (contact each service provider for appropriate license):
